Get Involved

Be a Volunteer

Volunteers are the heart of Karunai Ullangal Trust. Every rescue, every meal and every reunion happens because someone gave a few hours of their week.

Why volunteer? Because nobody should spend their last years on a pavement — and because an hour of your time can be the hour someone is found.

Our volunteers are auto drivers, students, homemakers, nurses, IT professionals and retired teachers. Some ride with the rescue team at dawn. Some cook. Some sit with an elderly resident and listen. All of it counts, and all of it is needed.

You will never be sent out alone. New volunteers shadow an experienced team member, learn how to approach someone safely, and take on more as they grow comfortable.

Roles

Ways You Can Help

Join a Rescue Drive

Ride with a rescue team, help lift and settle a person into the ambulance, and stay with them through the first hours of care.

Food Distribution

Pack and serve hot meals on the street routes we cover every week across Chennai and nearby districts.

Hospital & Shelter Visits

Sit with rescued elders during treatment, help with paperwork, or simply spend an afternoon talking with our residents.

Awareness Camps

Help run street and college awareness camps so more people know how to report someone abandoned on the roadside.

Event Support

Festivals, medical camps, tree plantation drives and summer camps — help with logistics, registration and crowd care.

Skills-Based Help

Doctors, nurses, counsellors, physiotherapists, designers, writers and social media volunteers give a few hours a month remotely or on site.

Give either way

Volunteering and giving do the same work — one brings hands, the other brings fuel and medicine.
